When Families Flourish participants first enter our program, many are looking to build wealth, yes.

But economic stability is not the only freedom they’re seeking. They want freedom from harassment, freedom from unmet promises, freedom to live where they want. They’re building generational wealth, as one of our participants talked about at a recent event.

Lashawn Harris captures all of that in her new book, “Tell Her Story.” Through the lens of New York City grandmother Eleanor Bumpurs, Harris paints a picture of a group of women seeking multiple freedoms.
